’95 Oldsmobile Aurora
Charging/Thermistor
Part # 8113-11

You will need two DVOM meters for testing this system. The thermistor is located under the positive battery cable. Take an ohm measurement at the thermistor. The thermistor should check at 1500 ohms @ 65F and 1100 ohms @ 100F.

With one DVOM check the voltage reading at the battery. Voltage should read 12.7v at the battery. With second DVOM, take voltage reading at the thermistor, without the engine running. DVOM should read between 10.1v and 10.5v. With the engine running, battery voltage should read between 13.9v and 14.5v. Thermistor voltage should be 11.8v. Readings that are one or two tenths lower can cause an overcharge condition. Readings that are one tenth higher can shut the alternator down.
