Problem / Complaint: After replacing alternator, alternator charges properly but the dash indicator light remains on. This does not mean that the alternator is defective. In these vehicles, the regulator in the alternator does not control the light circuit. The light circuit is controlled by the vehicle’s computer. Solution: In some cases you need to cycle the ignition a few times to clear the problem code in the computer. If that fails you need to physically reset the computer codes. Consult repair manual for proper procedures to reset or clear computer fault codes.
