In some late model GM cars the regulator is designed to interface with the PCM (power control modules) or VCM (vehicle control module). These regulators in most cases are not activated through the idiot light but by the PCM or VCM.

Grounding the "L" terminal in the harness to the alternators regulator may not bring on the light on some late model GM. Only through the PCM or VCM will the light come on.

On Izuzu Amigo Pick-Ups, Trooper II's and Rodeos, these vehicles use shared circuits and multiple points of connections (relays, splices, fusible links etc.). You need to inspect entire harness for loose, corroded, or burnt connections.

Some KIA Sephia's and Madza Protege's have only half of the regulator in the alternator, the other half is in the PCM. (See Genco Tech. Bulletin-5.98).
