         
ELD Electronic Load Detection The ELD system is to improve fuel economy. If this system fails it will set trouble code 20 and turn on the check engine light. The charging system will continue to work but fuel economy system will stop working. To test the alternator disconnect the green harness connector from the back of the alternator. Connect a fused jumper wire from battery voltage to the IG terminal in the back of the alternator. Start the vechicle. If the alternator charges, the alternator is good. Look for a vehicle wire problem. If the alternator doesn’t charge then the alternator is bad. Source: ERE Dan Marinucci
