Generator B+ Terminal,Connection
Models: Golf and Jetta
Condition: Battery low state of charge can be caused by poor or intermittent
electrical contact between wiring harness eyelet connector and generator B+
terminal.
Service:
1-obtain radio code
2-disconnect battery ground
3-remove fastener at generator B+ stud
4-remove eyelet terminal from B+ stud
5-remove approximately 6mm of the eyelet terminal insulation
6-clean any residue or corrosion from the eyelet terminal
7-apply stabilant 22A-Di electric compound or (part no. ZVW186001)to eyelet terminal
8-reconnect terminal to the 13Nm (10 ft. lb)
9-reconnect battery ground
10-recode radio

Flashing of the alternator light in wet conditions. This is caused from splashing water onto the alternator belt. VW has issued splash shields for this problem.

When checking the wire from the alternator to the starter by a continuity test,test with the wire connected to the alternator and starter for a true reading.
