QUAD 4 - "SENSORED"
October, 1997

|
It has been reported that some G.M. vehicles using the 2.3L
"Quad-4" engine have displayed a cranking - but no start
condition after a replacement starter has been installed. Due to
the tight fit/hard to reach location of this starter the Crank
Positioning Sensor (CPS) may have been broken off when
removing the old starter. This sensor is located directly behind the
starter and can be sheered off rather easily when pulling back the
starter from the vehicle. Caution must be used to remove the
starter because the CPS is difficult to remove if it sheers flush
with the block.
