When changing pulleys on Ford alternators be careful not to over tighten the rotor nut, it can split the collar ring on the inside of the rotor that is not visible from the outside and the rotor will be jammed up against the front housing. If that happens the only fix is to disassemble the unit and replace the front collar. The proper torque for the rotor nut is between 60-100 foot lbs. If using an impact gun, make sure you do not over tighten.
Ford Probes Part #13445
Pulley grooves on Mitsubishi alternators have different pitch then some other pulleys and it may be necessary to use an original Ford O.E. belt for replacement. If you are replacing the belts on Probes very often, replacing with an O.E. belt should cure this problem.
Ford 3G Alternator Part # 7764, 7768, 7776, 7791, 7792
When changing pulleys on these units inspect the front housing for proper pulley fit. Ford made a running change on these front housings to cover and seal the front bearing. They also changed the pulley to fit these fronts. If the wrong pulley is used it will jam the unit or break the housing.
