ASVR Regulator
"All Silicon Voltage Regulator"
Guidelines

All late model GM alternators will have ASVR regulators sooner or later, most late 90's and on have these ASVR regulators already. Replacement of earlier regulators will be with the new ASVR regulators.

With these new regulators the following list is most important:

Do Not:

- Disconnect ground while regulator is connected.
- Connect or disconnect any electrical connection while alternator is turning.

Do:

- Remove voltage supply (disconnect battery) from all leads when connecting and disconnecting alternator or regulator.

- When disconnecting alternators from vehicles or testers disconnect regulator first.
- Disconnect in this order - Regulator plug, Battery lead, then Ground

- When connecting alternators on vehicles or testers connect regulator last.
- Connect in this order- Ground, Battery lead, then Regulator plug

- Use zener diode protected harness for all alternator testing (check with your test equipment supplier)
